Sofargen Krema is used for the prevention and local antibacterial treatment of infections with burns of 1 and 3 degrees; topical antibacterial treatment of varicose ulcers and infected bedsores and, in general, dermatological lesions infected or prone to superinfections.

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Since sulfonamides may increase the risk of neonatal jaundice, the drug should not be used in women at the end of pregnancy, premature babies and newborns in the first months of life.
Special Warnings
The drug should be used with caution in the presence of hepatic or renal insufficiency. The use of the drug may be risky in individuals with a clear deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, as hemolytic phenomena may occur. Prolonged use of the product may cause sensitization phenomena. In this case, it is necessary to interrupt treatment and take appropriate therapeutic measures.
The same is true in the case of superinfection with resistant microorganisms. Serum concentrations of sulfonamides in adults can reach therapeutic levels in the treatment of burns of a large part of the body. Therefore, in these patients, it would be prudent to check these serum levels, renal function, presence of any sulfonamide crystals in the urine, and liver function, stopping therapy in case of abnormal liver and/or kidney function. In addition, since propylene glycol, present in the composition as an excipient, can cause hyperosmolality when the product is applied to large burned areas, it is necessary to periodically check the osmolality of the serum and, if necessary, interrupt treatment.

For burns, Sofargen cream should be applied as soon as possible. After a quick cleansing of the affected areas, immediately apply an even layer of cream 2 or 3 mm thick to the burnt surfaces. The cream can be applied either directly to the lesions, possibly with a sterile glove, or pre-smeared on a sterile gauze. The use of the drug should be continued without interruption, once or twice a day, while there is a possibility of infection and until complete healing, both with spontaneous and surgical correction.
At each dressing change, thoroughly rinse the wounds with water or saline by douching or rubbing with a sponge. Take care of the timely reapplying of the cream on surfaces from which it was accidentally removed.
In other cases, varicose ulcers, bedsores, wounds and dermatological lesions prone to infection, if necessary, clean the damaged part and apply a layer of cream 2-3 mm thick, following the same criteria as described for the treatment of burns. The lesion must always be completely covered with the remedy.
If it is necessary to apply a bandage to the knee, perform bandage segments of 20-30 cm of the appropriate length, smear it with a plentiful layer of cream, unwind the impregnated part, unwind another 20-30 cm and repeat the operation until the full length of the bandage has been completely saturated, then apply the necessary bandage.
